Travis >> comforting Nicole: “It’s okay, Sweetie, it’s okay.” (all the while gently stroking her hair) >> as Dee leans on the horn at a rude Boston driver, "Mommy! A train is coming!"

Nicole >> paper shopping bag and two purses on her shoulders: “Busy, shopping!” >> pausing mid-tantrum with tears midstream: “Mama wipe! Runny nose!”

Dee >> “Nicole, you do not wear underwear on top of your clothes. Give back Mommy’s underwear right now!” >> “Everybody pick a book for story time. Mommy picks Crate & Barrel.”

Steven >> trying to drill the idea into the children’s heads 10 times a night: “Who is Daddy’s favorite boy/girl!?” >> “Woo hoo! 6543 clicks on my top Flickr picture!”
